Český Krumlov was one of those places that instantly stays with you. From the moment we arrived, it felt like stepping into a fairytale — a town wrapped around the river, watched over by its castle, full of winding little streets, old houses, quiet corners, and views that make you stop every few minutes just to take it all in. It’s beautiful in that rare way that feels both grand and intimate at the same time.

 

We had such a lovely time there, simply walking, exploring, and soaking up the atmosphere. There was something so peaceful about Český Krumlov, even in the summer heat — the light on the old buildings, the reflections on the river, the soft layers of history in every street. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down and notice details, and for me that always makes a destination even more special.

 

 

For these photos, I intentionally chose to use an old Meyer Görlitz analog lens mounted on my modern Fuji X-T5. I know it may seem unusual to pair vintage glass with a modern camera, but for this journey it felt exactly right. We are only at the beginning of this little overland trip through Europe, and one of the places ahead of us is Görlitz — the town connected to the Meyer Görlitz story and the heritage of this lens. Bringing it with me felt meaningful, almost like carrying a small piece of photographic history back across the continent.

 

There’s something about old lenses that modern perfection can’t quite replace. They don’t just capture a place — they interpret it. The softness, the character, the way light falls through old glass all add a feeling that suits historic towns like Český Krumlov so beautifully. Shooting this fairytale town with a vintage Meyer Görlitz lens felt like the right way to begin a journey that is as much about atmosphere, memory, and story as it is about the places themselves.

 

And this is only the beginning. Český Krumlov is the first chapter in our new Europe road trip — a journey through beautiful towns, landscapes, old stories, and moments I can’t wait to share.
