Fascination with sunrises
We returned from yet another “tour the Europe” and I was thinking how to start with my new posts, what is or are photographs who resonated in me the most from this trip?
And the answer is – Nature. Where people interact with nature or just plane and simple nature.
So, I am starting with
THE SUN
At the end of the journey, on our way back we took a ferry from France to Ireland. It was an overnight ferry and I woke up early, before the sunrise and went on a deck.
This pale palette of colours where light is just breaking in, the calm ocean and white/pink foam left behind our ferry and first birds of the morning flying low. Stunning.
No wonder we, as we people, are so preoccupied with sun and light.
That hour before sunrise is magical. When you are on a ship that moves fast, sky and colours changes even faster.
A fishing boat in the distance. Slowly the world is waking up. Quietness of dawn is broken.
In the dramatic shift the colours of the sky are saturated. Deep blue/purple ocean and orange/red sky above. The stage is set for the main star.
And here it is. An eye on the horizon. At first it is a tiny blip on the sky. Why would anyone fuss about it?!
But then this bright circle gets bigger and changes everything around it. Colours are bold, deep. Ocean is like dark, impenetrable surface. And sky is burning.
Maybe this is the reason why so many people day after day, stand in awe at sunrise. The inevitable change. When light comes, everything changes. There is a comfort in knowing it will happen again and again, in this circle of life. Fascination of blinding light. For a second it is like nothing else exist a part from this giant ball of fire that rises on horizon and puts everything else in shadows.
